Dec. 15: Schools, Sports, and Poinsettias

Take a look at what's going on around Riverhead this Wednesday.

1. What says 'Happy Holidays' like a poinsettia? And where better to see a display of over 40 poinsettias than at Long Island Horticultural Research and Extension Center on Sound Avenue? The LIHREC, run by Cornell Cooperative Extension, is hosting a  this afternoon from 1:30 - 4:30.

2. The boys' and girls' winter track teams both travel to Shoreham-Wading River High School this evening to participate in the . The meet starts at 6:00.

3. The boys' bowling team hosts  this afternoon at 3:30 at Wildwood Lake Bowl.

4. Had a chance to check out the on Main Street? Vacant windows downtown have been filled by community groups and individuals. The 'best' window, as voted on by the public, wins $500. The winner was going to be announced last Saturday, but voting will continue through until next Tuesday's Town Board Meeting. Cast your vote at the East End Arts Council. What defines 'best?' That's up to you to decide.
