The musical was chosen by the students, school officials said, because the show's central themes – that family, friends, community, and compassion are the most important things in life, and that change and redemption are always possible—appeal to audience members of all ages.

Performances will take place in the Riverhead Middle School cafetorium, which is being transformed into the “Home of the Blue Waves” by crew members and adult advisors.

Tickets cost $8 in advance and $10 at each performance. Tickets will be sold before the show, and at the door. For more information, contact Patricia Skura or Edward Tholl Jr, 631-369-6767.
