Don't Miss: Middle Masques Present 'Guys and Dolls, Jr.'

Students are credited for doing much of the work to stage the show themselves.

The Riverhead Middle School Middle Masques are proud to present their annual winter musical, "Guys and Dolls, Jr."

The show will be performed in the Riverhead Middle School cafetorium on Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday Feb. 1, at 5 p.m., Friday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday Feb. 8th at 5 p.m.

According to a description of the show by Riverhead Middle School staff, "'Guys and Dolls' follows Salvation Army crusaders and high rollers from the streets of Times Square to Havana and back again. Nathan Detroit, who is permanently-engaged to psychosomatic showgirl Miss Adelaide, will be forced to fold Detroit’s Oldest Established Permanent Floating Crap Game unless he wins a bet from slick high roller Sky Masterson. When Sky gambles that he can woo any “doll”, Nathan counters that Sky will not be able to convince an upright but uptight missionary named Sarah to go to Havana with him. Sarah finds the rakish Sky very resistible at first, but eventually both Sky and Sarah teach each other a lesson on winning."

Added Riverhead Middle School Secretary and show producer Patricia Skura, ”We have gone through so many obstacles getting this show to go on; believe me, many. The students hhave worked so hard and this is the first time we’re putting a show on without a choreographer and without a musical director — the kids did it all. Everything this year is being done by the students"

Riverhead teacher and show director, Mr. Edward Tholl Jr., said he was thrilled to be able to showcase so many students.

"It is wonderful to see how our original set was transformed once again this year. I am so proud that the students of the cast choreographed the musical numbers and brought the play to life with their wonderful singing," he said. "Our student sound/lighting team and set constructors helped to create an awesome atmosphere for all to enjoy."

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $10. Tickets can also be purchased at the door on the night of the event for $12. For additional information, contact Mrs. Skura at (631) 369-6767.
