Last Chance: Milk And Cookies To Celebrate Turn Off TV Week

Head to Roanoake Elementary School for a fun family event.

Students and parents from the Roanoke Avenue Elementary School will grab their blankets and books, ready to stretch out on the field and read on Wednesday night from 6 to 7 p.m. as the school hosts a "Milk and Cookies" night on the blacktop adjacent to the building. If it rains or is too cold, the event will be held inside the school.

The event is part of "Turn Off Your TV Week at Roanoke Avenue," which lasts from April 30 to May 4. A kick off assembly was held on Friday. The week is designed to give students an alternative to watching television and encourage other activities such as reading and family events.

On Thursday, the school hosts an Outdoor Family Fun Night from 6 to 7 p.m. Families are encouraged to participate rather than stay home and watch TV.
