McGann-Mercy Students Bike for Life

A group of students will ride from Port Jefferson to Connecticut, passing along Sound Avenue in Riverhead.

Even during their summer vacation, McGann-Mercy students put their faith into action.

A group of 18, including students, alumni, Fr. Jerry Cestare, McGann-Mercy chaplain, and two teachers, headed off on a Bike for Life event, sponsored by the McGann-Mercy campus ministry.

The event kicked off on Thursday morning as the group left from Port Jefferson and followed a route to New London, Connecticut, traversing Sound Avenue and passing through Riverhead and the North Fork. Riders will spend the night at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Southold on Friday night.

Besides the biking and exercise, the event features group activities and discussions on topics relevant to teens including the environment, presure, stress, sexuality and faith.

A mass at Infant Jesus Church in Port Jefferson took place on Tuesday night to begin the bonding experience.

Lisa - is there any way to post on the main page? That would be a big help. Thank you.
