Photo of the Day: RHS Students Deliver Gifts to Those in Need

Riverhead High School students participated in the "Angel Tree Project" this year, which saw students donate gifts to needy families at local shelters.

"Once the tree was up and decorated by Joanne, who has made it her annual project, I put 67 angels on the tree at 8:00 a.m.," said Theresa Drozd. "By 11:00 a.m., they were all taken. It was amazing."

Sixty-seven gifts were wrapped and ready for delivery to the Wading River Development, a homeless shelter, and 15 more, including a rocking horse and a bike that weren't wrapped, were delivered to the Children's Housing Initiative on Roanoke Avenue.

"Santa is going to give the gifts to the children at a party on Wednesday [December 21st]," said student Anthony Stimpfel, who helped drive the presents to the shelters. "A big thank you goes out to all the students, teachers, staff and administrators who participated in this effort."
