PHOTOS: Blue Waves' Homecoming Day Festivities

Riverhead marched on to a 43-42 victory against Half Hollow Hills West, with cheers and encouragement from the crowd Saturday.

The bleachers and fields at were a sea of blue and white jerseys, T-shirts and painted faces, as fans came out in droves to support the Riverhead Blue Waves against the Half Hollow Hills West Colts on Saturday.

Connor and Tyler Reilly, ages 11 and 10, respectively, dyed their hair blue for the occasion.

“It was part of the artistry of the morning,” said their mother, Patty Reilly.

Half-time began with a Star Spangled Banner salute led by the Reserve Officers' Training Corps as well as varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders’ routines.

Parade floats featuring a board games theme also received cheers from the crowd. The junior class won first place for their Scrabble float, while the seniors took first place for their Spirit Week outfits. Anthony Sachitello and Amy Yaraborough were declared the Homecoming King and Queen.
