Question of the Day: How Do You Feel About the Split School Bond Proposals?

The School Board will vote on Tuesday to hold a two-part proposal for votes on the school bond and a bond for gym space.

The School Board released its agenda on Friday, detailing a plan to vote to put a two part-proposal before a public vote to gain approval for a $78 million capital improvements bond and a separate $7 million bond for gym space.

The $78 million bond would eliminate the use of modular classrooms throughout the district, replace outdated roofs and update classrooms, according to the project's architects. The second proposal, which would only apply if the first bond passed, would devote $7 million towards construction of a new 16,000-square-foot gymnasium and additional storage and office space at Riverhead High School.

The proposed date for the bond vote is Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
