Riley Avenue Holds Halloween Walk-A-Thon for Trinca Family

The "Riley Gives Back" fundraiser raised about $5,000 for the Trinca family's medical expenses

The annual Halloween parade at was a little different this year. There were no costumes, but lots of cheering, as the third and fourth grade classes marched around the field Monday morning to raise money for the Trinca family, .

Riley Avenue teacher Jimmy Schaefer, a fan, proposed a fundraiser , who need the support to help pay medical expenses. Keri and Jason Trinca were killed in the crash that sent Keri's two younger children, Christopher and Marialena to the hospital in critical condition. Jason, 7, was an award-winning go-kart racer at the track and a regular at the races.

Schaefer said the one-mile walk-a-thon, called "Riley Gives Back," raised about $5,000 for the family.

“Halloween can become all about how you look and what you get,” said teacher Beth Menis. “What a wonderful lesson to teach our students on Halloween that you can still have fun, but help others at the same time.”
