Riverhead Schools Closed Wednesday

Power outages to blame.

Riverhead Superintendent Nancy Carney announced Tuesday afternoon that all schools in the district would remain closed Wednesday.

"There is still no power at Aquebogue and Phillips Avenue schools," Carney said. "There are too many downed wires. We will open on Thursday."

Schools in the district were closed due to Hurricane Sandy, which swept through the region on Monday.
