Riverhead School District Hosts Transition Fair

The event will provide information to parents and students with disabilities who are preparing to transition into the adult world.

In a first-of-its kind event, the Riverhead Central School District will host a "Transition Fair" on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.

The fair was organized to help provide parents, and children with disabilities who are preparing to transition into the adult world, with the opportunity to meet with agencies and organizations throughout Long Island in the areas of recreation, employment and education; information and literature will be distributed.

"Our goal in hosting this fair is to assist students and their families as they plan for the future," Elva Beyer, a transition coordinator at Riverhead High School, said. "The Transition Fair is the first of its kind on the East End, and it is so very important for our families to become informed about the services available for their children. We are hoping to get a great turnout."
