School District Polling Places For Tuesday's Vote

School budget votes, as well as school board elections, take place on Tuesday, May 15.

As the countdown to the budget vote begins, Superintendent Nancy Carney said voters should remember that polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m on Tuesday, May 15 at local elementary schools.

Residents will also vote to elect two candidates, to two open seats on the Riverhead Board of Education in an uncontested race.

Residents should vote at the elementary school where a child living in their house would normally have attended school -- except residents living in the Roanoke Avenue Elementary School zone, who will vote at Riverhead High School.

"The system of local voting locations worked well during our October 2011 bond vote and greatly increased voter participation," Carney said in an email last week.

Carney reminded that details of the budget can be found on the district's website, www.riverhead.net, at each school, and at the public libraries.

"I urge all residents of Riverhead to educate themselves about the budget and to come out to vote on May 15," she said.
