The Riverhead Central School District has issued a response to awhich specifically pointed out a potential attack on a public school bus, among other targets.

The note, which was emailed to politicians and media on April 1, also threatened state office buildings and State Legislature.

Superintendent Nancy Carney is sending out a letter to families on Wednesday alerting them of the threat, which is attached as a .pdf document and is also posted on the school district's website. However she added that the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services has deemed the threat not much of a threat at all.

The note assures parents that, "although law enforcement authorities are treating this seriously, they are not considering this a credible threat at this time. The state has urged all schools to continue regular safety inspections on buses and to have bus drivers strictly enforce school bus behavior rules."

The letter also states that all Riverhead bus drivers have been made aware of the threat and have "enhanced the existing pre- and post-inspection routines for all bus transit."

No threats were made to any specific school district, though the author of the threat stated that, "If we attack a school bus full of kids, it may have no affect on the hardened criminals who rule Albany, but it will put the public in an uproar. Our goal is to create anarchy."
