UNITING AGAINST LUNG CANCER HOSTS COLORFUL FAMILY KITE FLY ON COOPERS BEACH IN SOUTHAMPTON, NY TO RAISE MONEY FOR CANCER RESEARCH

 

Southampton, NY – Uniting Against Lung Cancer will host its 5th annual “Kites for a Cure,” a family kite fly benefiting lung cancer research on Saturday, May 28th, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. (rain date May 29th) at Coopers Beach in Southampton, NY. For a donation of $30, guests receive snacks, kites, decorating materials, and a t-shirt. Parking is free.

 As many as 1,000 people are expected to gather on America’s #1 beach, decorating their kites with a special message for family members and friends, or a general message of love and hope for those suffering with lung cancer.

 Uniting Against Lung Cancer was founded in 2001 in memory of Joan Scarangello, a Southampton resident and non-smoker who lost her battle with lung cancer.  In just seven years, the foundation has awarded over $7 million in research grants into diagnosis, treatment and a cure for lung cancer. Lung cancer is the nation’s #1 cancer killer, claiming more than 160,000 lives in the U.S. this year alone.
