Have an Extra Room? Why Not Play Host to a Baseball Player

Hamptons Collegiate Baseball is looking for housing for its players - and someone to serve as Tommy the Tomcat - during the 2012 season.

Now that it's mid-March the league is looking for families to house their players.

and in Center Moriches, and new players ready for the roster of the Riverhead Tomcats, players will be looking for housing, part-time jobs and other opportunities to participate in the communities. Host families are required to supply a player with a room, a bed, laundry, and meals but will not need to provide transportation.

Players will arrive early in June and stay until the first week in August. They will play baseball five or 6 days a week and will workout at local gyms.

"These boys have been hand picked to be in these leagues," said Patti Moore-White. "And I can honestly say...we have nothing but success stories and many families have returned for another season! It truly is a win-win for everyone!"

She said volunteers are also being sought for concessions, merchandise, food and supply donations, and in-between-inning fun activity coordinator. Lastly, the Tomcats are looking for someone to be Tommy, the team mascot, in a professionally-made costume.
