Maysonet Breaks Big South Rushing Record En Route to SBU Victory

Seawolves defeat Albany, 31-28, and go on to play at Sam Houston State next Saturday.

Miguel Maysonet, a former Blue Wave running back who in the Big South Conference, set the conference record on Saturday for rushing yards in a single season during a Stony Brook University playoff victory, upping his season total to 1,560 yards.

Rushing for 75 yards on 22 carries, Maysonet surpassed the former record of 1,500 yards, previously held by Liberty running back Rashad Jennings in the 2008 season. The Big South Conference - founded in 1983 - crowned its first football champion in the fall of 2002, and SBU joined conference's football division in 2008.

On Saturday, SBU defeated Albany, 31-28, coming back from an 18-point deficit to earn the rights to face-off against Sam Houston State next Saturday in Texas. Sam Houson is the top-seeded team out of 20 teams in the FCS playoffs (a .pdf of the bracket is attached).
