Melodee Riley, who and came in fourth place in a national competition last June, announced that she will be heading to jump at UConn next year on a full scholarship.
Riley will join former teammate Treval Hatcher in Storrs, and was humble in saying her options were somewhat limited in picking schools. Her mother, Lori, was a little more candid.
"She had a stack of 135 letters from all over the country," she said. "But on her first official visit [to UConn], she loved it."
Riley said she wanted to stay close to home, adding that she's a "momma's girl." Eventually, she has her sights set on competing in the 2016 Olympics in the triple jump.
