“As the owner of a health food market since 1987, I believe we can all be our ‘best’ through good nutrition and regular exercise,” said Shelley Scoggin, owner of the Market. “I invite everyone to get involved. The event is lots of fun for both participants and spectators.  We are very fortunate to have ELIH at the heart of our community, providing top-rated care.”

The Great Waiter Race is based on a traditional race that began in Paris in 1904 to recognize the hospitality industry.  The concept has grown in popularity since its early beginnings.  Races now take place in more than 750 cities around the world.  (for details see www.waitersrace.com)

The entry feel is $50 and must be received no later than than 5 pm on May 16, 2014. Participants are encouraged to approach sponsors to raise additional funds.  All funds raised will be divided between Eastern Long Island Hospital and the first, second and third prize winners of the race.
