ORIENT

Colonial Life: Herbs: A series from the Oysterponds Historical Society about colonial times kicks off Saturday morning at 10 with historical uses of herbs. All ages are invited, from kids to adults. Cost is $10 for members, $15 for nonmembers.

Summer Exhibition Opening: Later on Saturday, the opening for the Oysterponds Historical Society’s summer exhibition, entitled “A Legacy of Treasures,” starts at 5 p.m. and ends at 7 The gallery is open Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 2 to 5 p.m. and is located at the Janet T. Swanson Gallery at 1555 Village Lane, Orient.

GREENPORT

Third Annual Boat Show: Held at Greenport’s Mitchell Park Marina, come down Friday through Sunday and visit boats in the water, on the land, and walk around the village.

PECONIC

Relay for Life: The survivors’ reception starts at 5 p.m. at Jean Cochran Park on Peconic Lane, with a walk to raise funds for cancer research to follow.

CUTCHOGUE

Yard Sale on the Green: Drop by the Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Society on Main Road on Saturday for some unique finds.


MATTITUCK

'Carousel:' North Fork Community Theater's presentation of Rodgers and Hammerstein will be playing this weekend, with a pre-show reception on Thursday at the Village Cheese Shop. Tickets are $20.

Lace Knitting Workshop: This one-day workshop at Love Lane's Altman's Needle & Fiber Arts takes place from 9 a.m. to noon. Register beforehand by calling the shop.

BAITING HOLLOW

Horse Rescue Fundraiser: The Mane Event kicks off Friday at 6 p.m., to 9 p.m., the inaugural fundraiser of Baiting Hollow Horse Rescue. Tickets cost $60 per person.

RIVERHEAD

Annual Community Yard Sale: Over 30 vendors will be setting up shop at Hallockville Farm Museum, the nonprofit on Sound Avenue, all with household items, bric-a-brac, jewelry – you name it.

Barn Dance: Later on at Hallockville, a fundraiser for the East End Livestock & Horseman’s Foundation will be held, with proceeds going toward scholarship and rescue funds. Admission is $20.

Riverfront Antique Fair: Sponsored by the Business Improvement District, this fair featuring antique vendors will take place Saturday down by the Peconic River, starting at 10 a.m. Admission is free.

RIVERSIDE

Community Festival: With over $2,000 in donated goods to raffle, over 20 craft vendors, a BMX stunt show and more, this isn’t your average fundraiser for the PTO. Admission is $3, and free for kids under age 2.
