Dance For the Dogs on Sunday

The Peconic Riverfront will be a popular destination this weekend, with an antique fair on Saturday and a fundraiser on Sunday.

The forecast is looking nice for Sunday, a day when Denise Lucas and other animal lovers will be dancing for dogs down by the Peconic Riverfront.

Lucas, who formed Riverhead Move the Animal Shelter, to build better facilities for dogs in town, organized a fundraiser with proceeds going toward the nonprofit. 'Dancing for the Dogs' will run from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, featuring live music, raffles, craft vendors and more. Admission is free.

Since Lucas started raising funds about a year and a half ago, she has helped fund and organize the opening of the town's first dog park in Calverton, and is aiming to open another one at Stotzky Park shortly.

The riverfront will be a popular place this weekend, with an antique fair taking place on Saturday, sponsored by the Business Improvement District.
