Little Joe and Chauncey Are Available for Adoption at Kent

These two pups are ready to find their new home.

Little Joe and Chauncey are both tired of living at the shelter. Although the people at Kent Animal Shelter in Calverton have been very nice and welcoming, both of these dogs are ready to find a home of their own.

Little Joe

Little Joe is a Jack Russell terrier and beagle mix who came to Kent a few months ago. Little Joe was originally picked up as a stray by a kind woman, who loved Little Joe so much that she kept him herself for a year and a half. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and could no longer care for Little Joe. It was then that he came to Kent.

The staff at Kent says Joe is spunky, playful and energetic. He is 2 years old and weighs 32 pounds. He  suffers  from allergy problems but with the proper food and a little Benadryl, he's just fine.

Chauncey

Chauncey is a lab and rottweiler mix who came to Kent in January  2008. Chauncey never thought he would spent so many years in a shelter. Although he has done his best to make Kent his home, he would really like a home outside the shelter to go to.

Chauncey originally had a home in Brooklyn, but when his owner was about to lose her home, she let her pets loose in the city. Chauncey was eventually picked up by NYC Animal Care and Control in December 2007. He was then transferred to Kent.

Chauncey is a big guy at around 80 pounds. He is friendly and energetic, but he should probably go to a home without other pets. Chauncey really hopes you can finally give him a forever home.

Little Joe and Chauncey are neutered and up to date on all shots and vaccines. The adoption fee for each dog is $160.
