Hazy, Hot and Humid for Holiday Weekend

Break out the beach gear – there's no rain in sight.

They're calling it "Three H" weather for the July 4 holiday weekend — hazy, hot, and humid.

According to Tim Morrin, meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Upton, it's safe to break out the bikinis and the beach gear, with no rain clouds in sight for the holiday.

A slight chance of showers — only 20 percent — exists through Wednesday evening, Morrin said.

But after that, while "very humid conditions" are expected to continue through the holiday weekend, there's no precipitation in the forecast.

Independence Day is expected to be partly sunny, with high temperatures in the upper 80s, and nighttime temps in the low 70s.

"The humidity levels will stay high right on through the holiday weekend," Morrin said, with temperatures expected to soar into the 90s by early next week. "It doesn't break."

No air quality alerts have currently been issued by New York State, Morrin said. "The biggest hazard is the heat and humidity," he said.
