Apple Picking, Wedding Open House, Science Saturday In Riverhead This Week

Here's a sampling of what's happening around town this week.

Here's a look at what's happening around Riverhead the first week of September:

- Harbes U-Pick Orchard Re-opens for the season on Thursday. Apple picking, pumpkin picking, Robin Hood interactive corn maze and spooky mazes highlight the activities every weekend at the Harbes Family Farm Orchard, located at 5698 Sound Avenue in Riverhead. Also at the Harbes u-pick farm are hay rides, the Honey Crisp Café featuring cider doughnuts, wine tastings for adults, music, pony rides and pedal karts for kids.

- The first Science Saturday of the school year at the Long Island Science Center takes place on September 7 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The mission of the Long Island Science Center is to promote the knowledge and love of science, technology, engineering and math.
 
- The Suffolk Theater presents is first-ever Wedding Open House on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 6 pm. Free. For more info, click here.

- A Riverhead Town board meeting takes place on a special day, on Wednesday at 2 p.m.

- A Farmers Market takes place downtown by the Peconic Riverfront on Thursday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
