Brendan House Fundraiser, 9/11 Memorial Service, Fall Festival This Week

Here's a look at what's happening in Riverhead this week.

Here's a look at what's happening this week around Riverhead:

- School starts Monday in Riverhead; drive safely.

- A remembrance walk and service will be held on Wednesday, 9/11 at the new 9/11 memorial park on Sound Avenue. Those participating should gather at Marine Street and Park Road at 6 p.m.; the walk will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the memorial event will last approximately an hour.

- The second annual "Arts Means Business" seminar and networking party will be held at the Suffolk Theater Thursday at 3 p.m. Tickets cost $25 for EEA or Riverhead Chamber of Commerce members, $30 for non-members and $35 at the door. For ticket and more info, click here.

- The 33rd Annual Hallockville Fall Festival & Craft Show takes place Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and features folk art demonstrations, a tractor pull, kids' activities, hayrides, a livestock display, and, new this year, a vintage quilt show. Proceeds go to support Hallockville Museum Farm's non-profit educational programs. For more info and tickets, click here.

- A fundraiser for the Brendan House, will be held on Sunday, Sept. 15, when Sky Dive Long Island and the All Star bowling alley team up for Sky Bowling. The event takes place at 3:15 p.m. at 400 David Court in Calverton; admission is $10. Skydivers of Long Island will transform into human bowling balls jumping from airplanes and hitting huge life size pins. For more information, click here. The Brendan House will help to bring local teen Michael Hubbard, who was badly injured after a gel candle explosion two years ago, home to Riverhead. The facility is a new group home that's being created for people suffering from traumatic brain injury, which Michael suffered after his tragic accident.
