Bridal Showcase, Poker Bike Run For Thomas Jasinksi, Sheriff's Open House This Week In Riverhead

Here's what's happening in Riverhead this week:

- A Bridal Showcase will be unveiled Wednesday, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., hosted by Atlantis Banquets & Event at the Sea Star Ballroom at Long Island Aquarium & Exhibition Center, and at the Hyatt Place East End & Resort Marina. Hotel tours begin at 6 p.m. Guests can meet with top event professionals demonstrating the latest in fashion, flowers, photography, entertainment, and more. Attendees can also enter to win a three-night honeymoon stay at the Verandah Resort & Spa Antigua. The event costs $15 per person person with reservation; $20 per person at door.  - A fundraiser celebrating the life of Thomas Jasinski, a former firefighter who lost his brave cancer battle recently, takes place Saturday at the Riverhead Elks Lodge. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to pay Jasinski's medical bills. Over 100 gift baskets have already been collected. The event, a poker bike run, begins at 9 a.m., for registration, with a barbecue back at the Elks Lodge from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. 

- The ChickenKidz Children's Consignment Event will feature everything for infants, tots and tweens at low prices. Over 15,000 items. Clothing to size 14, toys, books, shoes, CDs, DVDs, strollers, highchairs, furniture, bikes, maternity wear and more. The Back to School event is being held at the Riverhead Polish Hall on both Saturday and Sunday.

- Head to Martha Clara Vineyards on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. for "Country Music With a Bite," a five-piece band covering the best contemporary country music hits along with classic rock and roll. Rain or shine; free admission. Additional cost for wine and food.

- A Sheriff's Office Open House and Family Day unfolds Sunday beginning at 10 a.m. at 100 Center Drive. This year, the Sheriffs are celebrating 330 years of continuing service. Officers will be hosting guided tours of the facility, and various law enforcement and community relations programs will be highlighted throughout the day. Featured will be K-9 demonstrations, Emergency Response Team demonstrations, historic artifacts, equipment and field operations demonstrations, as well as opportunities to learn about programs such as Project Lifesaver and Test Don’t Guess, and to obtain Child and Senior ID Cards. McGruff the Crime Dog will be onsite, and children will have an opportunity to participate in the Sheriff’s Bike Rodeo and ride an obstacle course. For more information, call 631-852-3436.
