Walking Tour, Chicken Dinner, Book Talk In Riverhead This Week

A fundraiser for the Brendan House will also be held this week.

Take a look at what's happening around Riverhead this week:

- "Music Together" for newborns through five year olds and the adults who care for them, takes place Monday at East End Arts Carriage House on East Main Street in Riverhead at 10:15 a.m. "Music Together" classes are presented by Lyrical Children Inc., and include classes for babies only, mixed ages and supportive family, for families with children who have special needs.
Music Together is an early childhood music program for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners and their adults. Call Lyrical Children at 631-208-4003 to reserve a spot for a free demo or register for the ten week fall semester, which kicks off Monday.

- A Riverhead Community Blood Drive takes place Tuesday at the Riverhead Fire House on Roanoke Avenue at 1 p.m.

- The Book Project takes place Wednesday at the Riverhead Project Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. as guest author Regina Calcaterra speaks about her new novel "Etched in Sand,"  which depicts her triumph over a childhood marked by abuse, homelessness and foster care. The event is both book club and social. Free admission. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres. Cash bar. Save 15 percent when you purchase "Etched in Sand" at BookHampton at Love Lane in Mattituck and mention The Book Project.

- The League of Women Voters of the Hamptons has organized a “Discover the Riverhead Revival!” walking tour on Thursday at 11 a.m. with visits to a number of spots on East Main Street, including the Suffolk Theater, Suffolk County Community College's Culinary Center, and the Long Island Aquarium & Exhibition Center. - Max Feld Schuh plays the jazz vibraphone on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Dark Horse Restaurant. The family event is free.

- A Riverhead VFW barbecue will be held on Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. Adults tickets are $15; kids cost $3. For more info call 1(631) 727 - 2229.
New members welcome.

-  On Sunday, a fundraiser will be held for The Brendan House Project in Riverhead. The event, a Country Fair, will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at the Brendan House, located at 4079 Sound Avenue, and will feature live music with the Boot Scoot Boogie Band, pig and duck races, and kids' corner and inflatable toy, games, raffles, contests, prizes, and food. Individuals can sponsor and name their own pig for $100 or duck for 50. The Brendan House will help to bring local teen Michael Hubbard, who was badly injured after a gel candle explosion two years ago, home to Riverhead. The facility is a new group home that's being created for people suffering from traumatic brain injury, which Michael suffered after his tragic accident.
