Week Ahead: 'Wonder of Christmas,' Annual Bonfire, Carols & Cookies

Here's a look at what's happening around Riverhead this week:

- The East End Women's Network will hold a Networking Dinner on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Hotel Indigo, located at 1830 West Main Street. The holiday party also includes a gift basket auction, hors d’oeuvres, a buffet dinner and a complimentary glass of wine or beer. Proceeds from the auction benefit the high school scholarship program. Members, $50; non-embers, $60. Click here to respond or email  info@eewn.org.

- "The Wonder of Christmas," presented by the Living Water Full Gospel Church on Hubbard Avenue and Shade Tree Lane in Riverhead, opens on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. Hear Christmas standards and gospel hits; this year’s show features a full  cast of singers, actors and dancers. For tickets call 631-722-4969 ext. 204 or click here. Ticket prices range from $19 to $24. A portion of the proceeds benefit the needy in the community.

- "Carols & Cookies" takes place Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the Jamesport Meeting House, located at 1590 Main Road in Jamesport. The Riverhead High School  chamber chorus, conducted by Dena Tishim, will perform seasonal selections and lead attendees in a sing-along of popular carols.   Following the singing, everyone will share cookies and mulled cider in the lecture room. Suggested $5 donation for adults. All children welcome.   

- The Riverhead Recreation Holiday Open House takes place Saturday at the Riverhead Town human resource/senior center located on Shade Tree Lane in Aquebogue from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

- Riverhead's 14th Annual Bonfire and Holiday Celebration takes place Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m. The event honors Loretta Trojanowski, a longtime volunteer who lost her life this year. Caroling, hot cocoa and a tree lighting are all part of the fun.
