I'm so excited to be writing columns for RiverheadPatch about ways that parents and children can spend quality time together.  I see so many families stressed out because they are splitting their time between sports practices, dance or music lessons, playdate car-pooling, scouts, and other scheduled activities.  I am always surprised when kids tell me they don't play outside unless they're on a team. Unscheduled family leisure time is rare, and like rare items, it's very valuable.  I hope my columns will suggest activities to help you and your family spend some time together to unwind, make memories, be creative and have fun!!
