Riverhead High Lacrosse Player Recruited As a Sophomore

Blake Carrara already has college plans, but he's only a Riverhead High School sophomore.

In an unprecedented move, a Riverhead High School sophomore has already been recruited to play lacrosse in college.

Blake Carrara, who started for the boys lacrosse team as a ninth grader this past season, was considered this summer as a "Blue Chip" recruit for the Class of 2016, school official said.

Carrara was recruited by Princeton, Yale, Virginia, Maryland, Johns Hopkins, and Loyola, all strong LAX schools.

He decided to "verbally commit," to the University of Maryland, according to Riverhead Central School District officials.

"This is the biggest recruitment of a Riverhead lacrosse player ever," school officials added, in a release.

"Blake will be a sophomore this year and was recruited by the most recognized lacrosse school in the country," Victor Guadagnino, varsity boys' LAX coach, said.
