Cops: Thief Steals $700 Worth Of Jewelry From Unlocked SUV

Also, a Suffolk Community College employee has his car broken into, items taken.

Southampton Town police released the following incident reports for the week of Nov. 11.

Flanders

  • Someone went into a woman’s vehicle on Meadowbrook Lane in Flanders Nov. 8 and stole about $780 worth of valuables. According to police the woman called 911 at around 4:30 p.m. to report that sometime between Nov. 7 and 8, an unknown subject opened the door of her unlocked 2005 Chevy Trailblazer and stole a jewelry board valued at around $80 and sterling silver and assorted costume jewelry worth around $700. The complainant also said whoever committed the crime broke the center console arm rest on the vehicle. Police are investigating the incident.

Riverhead

  • An employee at Suffolk Community College’s Eastern Campus on Speonk-Riverhead Road called 911 on Nov. 5 to report that someone had broken into his car, which was parked in the student lot. According to police the man called shortly after 6 p.m. after he discovered that someone had gone into his 2005 Saturn, parked in front of the Peconic Building and stole a check book from Teacher’s Federal Credit Union, a Chase credit card and a Garmin GPS system, valued at around $90. The employee has since canceled the credit card before any fraudulent charges were made, according to police. Police have no further leads or suspects at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
