State Police Bust Man For Underage Sale of Alcohol

Police said the man sold an undercover officer a 6-pack of beer.

The New York State Police in Riverside have charged an 18-year-old Mt. Sinai man with selling alcohol to a minor.

The man was charged on Wednesday after police conducted a sting at several establishments in Riverhead.

According to state police, the man, a clerk at the Mobil Gas Station at 1575 Old Country Road in Riverhead sold a 6 pack of Budweiser Beer to an undercover officer posing as a minor.

The clerk was charged with one count of Unlawful Dealing with a Child and one count of Prohibited Sale of an Alcoholic Beverage.

State police also conducted stings at several other area business that were found in compliance, including Gulf Gas, Main St, Riverhead; Gulf Gas, Old Country Rd, Riverhead; Winemart, Riverhead; 7-11, Riverhead; Roanoke Liquors, Riverhead; Wine Depot, Riverhead; Hess Express, Riverhead; Mobil Gas-Bolla Market, Riverhead; Sunoco, Calverton; The Thirsty Cellar, Wading River; Alpine Liquors, Wading River; Hess Mart Express, Wading River; Empire Gas, Riverhead; Valero Gas, Wading River; 7-11 Gas, Riverhead
