Students Dance With Seniors At Prom

Generations mixed at a senior citizen prom hosted by Riverhead teens.

Proms aren't just for teenagers anymore.

The Riverhead High School Interact Club, a student extension of Rotary, hosted the annual Senior Citizen Prom in the high school cafeteria recently.

The annual event is one seniors look forward to for months -- getting dressed up for the occasion. This year's theme was Broadway musicals.

Seniors enjoyed a meal of turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, and dressing with cake for dessert, prepared by cafeteria staff.

Carol Kirchoff acted as the master of ceremonies and coordinator of the event; the evening featured the music of DJ Regina T. Holmes, the middle school jazz band, the high school chamber orchestra and the high school chamber choir.
