Maysonet Makes First Round of Roster Cuts

The former Blue Wave is listed as the third running back on the Cleveland Browns' depth chart.

Former Riverhead Blue Wave Miguel Maysonet made it past the first round of cuts on Tuesday, keeping his spot on the Cleveland Browns roster for the time being at the very least.

All National Football League teams had to reduce the size of their rosters down from 90 to 75 players as preseason continues on, and will need to drop another 22 players in the coming days to reach a max of 53 by Aug. 31.

Maysonet, an undrafted free agent who had a brief stint with the Philadelphia Eagles before being signed by the Browns, is currently listed as third on the Browns' depth chart at running back after the team placed second-stringer Montario Hardesty on the injured reserve, putting him out for the entire season. Veteran Brandon Jacobs is listed at second string now, with 2012 first-round draft pick Trent Richardson leading the pack.

So far this preseason, Maysonet has 30 yards on 13 rushes, as well as two catches for 13 yards.

Also on the roster is Jamaine Cook, another undrafted free agent who came out of Youngstown State. Cook was originally signed by the Browns back in May, but was dropped to clear room for Maysonet. He was picked back up by the team earlier this month.

In addition, the Browns recently picked up Chris Ogbonnaya, who – while listed as the team's only fullback – has played tailback in the past.

Before the Browns make their final cuts by Saturday, they will face off against the Chicago Bears on Thursday.
