Daughters and Dads Celebrate Valentine's Day With a Dance

Riverhead Recreation Department hosts Father/Daughter Dance in Aquebogue Saturday night.

Saturday night was the First Annual Father-Daughter Dance sponsored by Riverhead Recreation Department. It was held from 7 - 9:30 p.m. at the Human Resource Center in Aquebogue.

At 7P.M. the parking lot was already full as fathers and daughters lined up to get their tickets for a special evening. The final head count was approximately 208 dads and daughters. Each and every one of them were all dressed up and ready to have a fun night.

The event included a live D.J. for the entire event. The rooms and hallways were decorated with red hearts and frilly decorations to set the Valentine's mood. There was a chocolate fondue dip for pretzels, pretty little plates with cookies and sweets, cupcakes, and of course, hot chocolate.

Little and big girls of all ages danced the night away with their dads and had a memorable time. All father-daughter combos also received a complimentary photo together. There were valentines crafts, limbo and more fun and games.

It was truly a special night for all and a success for the 1st Annual Valentine Dance for Riverhead Recreation Department. The event was organized and planned by Tom Filgate, the Recreation Program Planner. He modeled the event after other Recreation Departments successful programs in wanting to bring something fun for the families of Riverhed Town.
