What Do You Want From School Board Candidates?

What do you want from your school board members? And who do you think should win the election?

This article was written by Taylor Vecsey and Lisa Finn.

The school board campaign season has just begun, with three candidates vying for two open seats in the Riverhead School District.

Running for two seats on the seven-member Riverhead board of education are incumbents Amy Lantz and Jeff Falisi, with Chris Dorr also a candidate, according to Superintendent Nancy Carney.

The three candidates will vie for two seats -- both Lantz's and Falisi's terms are up, and they are seeking re-election.

The deadline to file petitions for the unpaid positions was Monday; the vote takes place on May 21.

Patch wants to know: What do you want from a school board candidate in order for them to get your vote?

What qualities are particularly important to you? Do you vote for candidates who have children in the district or would you rather see the candidates have no ties to the district?

Are there any questions in particular you want to pose to the candidates? We'll be interviewing them over the next few weeks, so if there is a question you want an answer to, let us know.
